Come get an insider’s sneak peek at the final renovations happening at the Capitol on this tour lead by Jim Rinner, Vice President of J.E. Dunn Construction. You’ll be provided a hard hat and taken to the top of the Capitol dome to see firsthand how they are replacing the dome’s copper shell and underlying wood, as well as the building’s copper roof. Then we’ll go downstairs to see construction of the new visitor’s center, the Capitol building’s last major piece of interior work.
Along the way hear fascinating details of the renovation process. How’d those beams currently supporting the dome get up there, and more importantly, how are they going to get them out? Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and be prepared to climb the 296 stairs to find out!
The tour will start outside the KSAE Message Center, 140-S.
