"The first time someone asked me to run for office, I didn’t take it seriously. I was the President of the PTA for my boys’ school and had walked to the State Capitol to support public education, but I didn’t think that qualified me to be a legislator. But as I listened to the conversation happening in Topeka, I only heard the voices of far-right extremists, who cared more about economic experiments than our community.
"The next time someone asked me to run, I felt called to stand up for regular people – for soccer moms and neighbors than had told me they were fed up with the direction of our state. We put together a team, knocked on thousands of doors and won a State Senate race as a first-time candidate."
